TRAINING

Both the Junior and Senior Club have some great training squads to keep you tuned for competition. Nippers have a board training session on Saturday Afternoons at 2.00pm at Dee Why Beach and all age groups from U9 to U14 are welcome. Details for other afternoon training will be available shortly.  For those interested, The Club Gym is available to all financial members who also pay a small usage fee each month. Keys are available from the Treasurer.

MASTERS

For those ‘mature aged’ persons interested in competing.  Enquire through the competition manager:

SUNDAY MORNING EVENTS

Objectives:

  • to assist the integration of new members (SRC, Bronze, transfers inwards, returning members) with current members of the Dee Why Surf Club
  • to increase the proficiencies of all new members currently in training for their SRC or Bronze awards
  • to provide an increased social interaction amongst all members, cadets through to masters
  • to improve communications amongst members for all upcoming events in which Dee Why Surf Club are involved (at DY and other venues)
  • to nurture members who are considering involvement in carnival competitions representing Dee Why

Structure of Events:

  • Start time – 10.30am, 45 minute sessions to allow members to plan their participation (after Nippers)
  • Weather and beach-surf conditions prevailing, events will include a selection of the following:
    • Surf Swim
    • Pool Swim
    • Board Race (teams relay)
    • Board Race (individuals)
    • Board Race – 1km race (warm up for the 2km Board Paddle Championship towards the end of the season)
    • Beach Sprint
    • Beach Flags
    • Beach Relay
    • Taplin Relay (3 persons per team – swim, board, ski)
    • Poles Beach Run
    • Trig Point Run (warm up for the Trigg Championship event towards the end of the season
    • Lifesaver Relay (including Boats – run through in preparation for Branch Championship event)

Results:

  • Will be published on Club Noticeboard (new board to be establsihed outside Club Captain’s room
  • Will be published in the monthly Dee Why Surfer Newsletter
  • Club Championships will be integrated into the event timetable –
